Monday when I got home everything was dry. No rain. No standing water. What a difference a day makes. During the night I heard it raining but thought nothing of it. BIG MISTAKE. In the morning, 5:15 to be exact, I opened the door to let the dog out and he just sat there which is not normal. He usually is gone as soon as the door opens. It was still raining but that has never stopped him before. I got a flashlight so I could see and when I stepped out onto the porch I discovered why he didn't want to go out. We now were living on an island in the middle of a huge lake. The water was up over the bottom step. I got him to go out, then went out to check on the truck. We have a deck in the back that is about a foot off the ground, the water was peeking over the edge. The water was up to the bottom of the rims of the truck. I decided that I was going to wait until it got light before I tried to drive out and go to work. Around 9:30 the water had gone down so I decided to venture out. When I went out to the truck, I discovered that I had ducks swimming in my front yard -not walking swimming. From my driveway to the main road is about 2 city blocks of which two thirds was under water. I made it. The entrance to my subdivision that I use was under water so I tried the back way. No luck. I tried to get to the second entrance and was successful. After I got on the highway I drove about 6 miles through water. After that it was pretty dry and I made it to work. Last night there was water but considerably less than in the morning. This morning there was water across the road in new places. Hopefully tonight it will all be gone. And please no more rain for a while.
http://www.jnjcollections.com/ If you are looking for a Mother's Day gift or want to do some early Christmas shopping you should go to this website. He has some really nice jewerly that is very reasonably priced.
I got these really great soy candles to review. Now I'm not overly crazy about candles because most of them I don't like the scent but these are good. Not too over powering. The Orange Vanille which is 94.2% natural smells like a dreamcycle or orange sherbert. The Mcintosh Apple which is 92.4% natural smells like a green apple. I not really sure what the Earthly Awakening which is 93% natural smells like but I really like it.
Well I volunteered to help at one of the rest stops for the MS150 bike ride this last weekend. Because of the downpour on Friday the overnight stop was too flooded to be used so the first leg of the ride (Saturday) was cancelled. Now I did hear this on the news but for some reason it did not sink in so I got up and went to the rest stop that I was assigned to. No other workers were there. There were some bike riders but no workers. When it finally sunk in that what I had heard on the news was right, I checked with a friend (called and woke her up) and decided to go home. After I sat there a while I decided to go and check out my regular Target to see if they had some of the stuff I had bought the night before at a different one. Thus started my shopping spree. I went to Target, Micheals, and Garden Ridge. I didn't find too much at Target but OH BOY did the other two have some great stuff. I now have almost all of my Christmas shopping done for all 19 great neices and nephews. I got stuff that the kids will just love. Their's moms not so much but hey Christmas is for the kids right? Hopefully the next time I volunteer for something it works out because I can't afford all this shopping.
One of the guys that I work with asked me " Why do you care?" and I told him because someone had to. There are days that I ask myself that same question WHY and on those days I don't always have an answer. It seems like there are a few that try really hard to keep things moving all the time and there are others that seem to do as little as possible. Well I guess we just have to keep going because it is better than the alternative.
Well we have slaved all week to get all of the orders done so we don't have to work tomorrow- Good Friday. Of course everyone is so tirednow that it will be hard to enjoy a 3 day weekend, but I will give it my best. I will be mowing the yard(2acers) and making some raised garden beds. When I get the beds done my Fig trees and Orange trees will have a new home. I won't get any fruit this year but hopefully next year there will be fresh fruit not further that my backyard.
Hi I am a sister, aunt, daughter and friend. I have not been lucky enough to have someone to share my life with but still I am doing OK. My fur baby is a golden named Amos who doesn't believe he is not human.
