Monday when I got home everything was dry. No rain. No standing water. What a difference a day makes. During the night I heard it raining but thought nothing of it. BIG MISTAKE. In the morning, 5:15 to be exact, I opened the door to let the dog out and he just sat there which is not normal. He usually is gone as soon as the door opens. It was still raining but that has never stopped him before. I got a flashlight so I could see and when I stepped out onto the porch I discovered why he didn't want to go out. We now were living on an island in the middle of a huge lake. The water was up over the bottom step. I got him to go out, then went out to check on the truck. We have a deck in the back that is about a foot off the ground, the water was peeking over the edge. The water was up to the bottom of the rims of the truck. I decided that I was going to wait until it got light before I tried to drive out and go to work. Around 9:30 the water had gone down so I decided to venture out. When I went out to the truck, I discovered that I had ducks swimming in my front yard -not walking swimming. From my driveway to the main road is about 2 city blocks of which two thirds was under water. I made it. The entrance to my subdivision that I use was under water so I tried the back way. No luck. I tried to get to the second entrance and was successful. After I got on the highway I drove about 6 miles through water. After that it was pretty dry and I made it to work. Last night there was water but considerably less than in the morning. This morning there was water across the road in new places. Hopefully tonight it will all be gone. And please no more rain for a while.
Hi I am a sister, aunt, daughter and friend. I have not been lucky enough to have someone to share my life with but still I am doing OK. My fur baby is a golden named Amos who doesn't believe he is not human.
