National Child Passenger Safety Week

September 12-18 is National Child Passenger Safety Week. Saturday September 12 is "Seat Check Saturday". The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is asking all parents who are using a child safety seat to have the installation checked at one of the centers available nationwide. To find a center near you click on this link http://www.nhtsa.gov/cps/cpsfitting/index.cfm. This link also shows centers that can help Spanish speaking parents.
Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death among children 2 to 14. This is because car seats and seat belts are misused or not used at all. The really scary part is that 3 out of 4 car seats are not installed correctly, so even if they are used there is a real chance they won't protect your child. This is why Momfluence and I urge all of you parents to go on Saturday to get your car seat installation checked. The 15 or 20 munites that it will take could save that precious cargo you are carring in your car in case of an accident.

Disclosure for my post: Amy Lupold Blair, founder of Momfluence, is acting on behalf of NHTSA's child passenger safety efforts.
